COLUMBIA, Mo.-- - Missouri sophomore Brock Bond led off the bottom of the second inning for Mizzou with a home run to score the first of 11 runs the Tigers would put across the plate in the inning, as Missouri cruised to a 19-2 win in the second game of a three-game series with Mississippi Valley State at Taylor Stadium on Saturday.
Junior Max Scherzer made his first weekend start since April 8 and recorded the victory to move to 5-1 on the season. He struck out seven batters in six innings on the mound, allowing two runs on four hits.
Bond's homer in the second inning was his second of the season. He added a singled later in the second as the Tigers sent 16 batters to the plate in the inning. Senior J.C.
