COLUMBIA, Mo.-- - A two-run single by junior Gary Arndt in the bottom of the eighth inning, gave Mizzou a 7-5 win over Texas on Sunday at Taylor Stadium, as the Tigers completed a three-game sweep of the Longhorns. Missouri finishes the regular season with a 29-24 regular season record and a 12-15 Big 12 mark. The Tigers finish seventh in the Big 12 Conference and will be the seventh seed in this week's Big 12 Tournament.
Trailing 5-4 heading to the eighth inning, Mizzou loaded the bases with a single and a pair of walks and tied the game when sophomore Evan Frey was hit by a pitch. Arndt then followed with a one-out base hit to drive in senior Zane Taylor and sophomore Brock Bond with the go-ahead runs.
With Texas (38-18, 19-7 Big 12) leading 3-1, the Tigers scored three times in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a one-run lead. The Longhorns would score a run in the fifth and add a run in the seventh to re-take the lead before Missouri's three-run bottom of the eighth.
Senior Taylor Parker recorded the win, pitching 3.1 innings in relief, allowing just one run on one hit. Freshman Aaron Crow started for the Tigers and struck out five in four innings, before turning it over to the bullpen.
The Big 12 Tournament begins on Wednesday and continues through Sunday in Oklahoma City, Okla. The schedules for the tournament will be announced later tonight. Stay tuned to mutigers.com for more information.
