
Nebraska Takes Series Finale with Mizzou, 13-7

COLUMBIA, Mo. - - Missouri dropped the final game of its series with Nebraska, 13-7, as the Cornhuskers finished off a three-game sweep of MU. After Mizzou jumped out to a 5-1 lead on Sunday, Nebraska scored the next 11 runs, including an eight-run sixth inning.
Trailing 1-0, Mizzou scored three runs in the second inning and two more in the third. The Tigers got four-straight singles in the second inning from seniors Trevor Helms and J.C. Field, junior Gary Arndt and sophomore Evan Frey to put up the three runs.
Arndt doubled in the third inning to drive in junior John McKee and Field. Arndt was 3-for-4 with three RBI on the day.
The Huskers scored twice in the top of the fourth to cut the Mizzou lead to 5-3. The Huskers then scored eight runs in the sixth inning, all coming after the first two batters to the plate were retired. Nebraska had six hits in the inning, including a three-run homer by Luke Gorsett, his second of the weekend and his 14th of the season.
Missouri opened the seventh inning with back-to-back base hits by sophomore Brock Bond and senior Zane Taylor. Both would score in the inning.
The Tigers have dropped their last five games and fall to 16-14 on the year and 6-6 in the Big 12 Conference. Nebraska improves to 24-5 overall and 7-2 in the conference.
