
Culp Leads Missouri to 7-0 Shutout of Baylor

COLUMBIA, Mo.-- - Junior Nathan Culp pitched his second shutout of the season, allowing just three hits and striking out six in Mizzou's 7-0 win over Baylor in the opener of a three-game series at Taylor Stadium on Friday night.
Culp allowed just one hit through eight innings and did not walk a batter in the game, throwing 96 pitches. He retired 10-straight batters at one point and the lone baserunner between the fourth and eighth innings reached on an error.
Freshman Ryan Lollis scored three of Missouri's seven runs, finishing 2-for-3 with a double and a triple on the night.
Missouri improves to 20-20 on the season and 8-11 in the Big 12, while Baylor falls to 26-18 and 9-10 in conference play.
Sophomore Evan Frey led off the bottom of the first inning with a single and sophomore Brock Bond followed with a double. Both would score in the inning, giving MU the early 2-0 lead. The Tigers added a run in the second as Lollis doubled to open the inning and later scored on a sacrifice fly by junior Gary Arndt.
Two more runs crossed the plate for the Tigers in the fourth on a single by senior J.C. Field, driving in senior Derek Chambers and Lollis. A Baylor error in the fifth aided Mizzou's sixth run of the game, as Zane Taylor walked then scored on an error by the Bears' centerfielder on a play that would have ended the inning.
Lollis crossed the plate again in the sixth inning by leading off with a triple and then scoring on a ground out by Arndt.
Culp picked up his eighth win of the season which is tied for the most wins in the Big 12, moving to 8-4 on the year. Earlier this season Culp shutout Kansas, also a three hitter, and earned Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors following the outing.
