
Missouri Drops Series Finale with Oklahoma State

COLUMBIA, Mo.-- - Missouri dropped its series finale with Oklahoma State by a score of 3-2 on Sunday at Taylor Stadium. Tiger freshman Rick Zagone struck out a career-high seven batters in six innings of work, allowing just two runs on six hits, but took the loss.
Zagone retired nine-consecutive batters at one point in the ballgame. The seven strikeouts and six innings pitched were both career best.
Oklahoma State score first as Adam Carr doubled in the second inning and scored on a two-out single by Corey Brown.
Mizzou (18-20, 7-11 Big 12) would tie the score with a run in the bottom of the third inning as three Tigers- senior J.C. Field and sophomore Evan Frey and Brock Bond- all singled. Field would cross the plate on Bond's base hit for MU's first run of the game.
The Cowboys regained the lead as Tyler Mach singled to drive home Keanon Simon, who had reached on a double. Mach made it a 3-1 lead when he homered to lead off the eighth inning.
The Tigers had the bases loaded with no outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, but plated just one run.
Junior Gary Arndt was 2-for-3 on the day. Sophomore Jacob Priday was hitless on Sunday, snapping his 14-game hitting streak.
Missouri will take part in the Best of the Midwest Tournament at Community America Ballpark in Kansas City, Kan. The Tigers will face Creighton at 7 p.m. and Southeast Missouri State at Noon on Wednesday. All games can be heard on KTGR 1580-AM in Columbia and at KTGR.com.
