Columbia, Mo. - Mizzou Head Coach Mike Anderson Post-game quotes
Opening Statement:
"I have to say congrats to our guys. Arkansas is a good team and our guys really rose to the challenge. I always talk about our defense because they play with great energy, but it starts with the guards. Every guy on the floor tonight played with energy, played unselfishly, and played to win. Our quickness and versatility really affected the game. Our guys put forth a tremendous effort. It was one of better games."
On the team as a whole:
"We're getting better. Our guys are getting in tune with each other. We had twelve assists and fourteen steals in the first half. Keon Lawrence had three steals in the first half. Darryl Butterfield is vital although his stats may not show it. He does all the little things, and that type of dedication is starting to rub off on the rest of the team and it shows. No one knows about this team. Now the nation got a chance to see what we have."
On Stefhon Hannah:
"I recruited him because I liked his toughness and his command. He's a leader. His confidence is growing and slowly but surely he's becoming a leader. He's a guy that is tailor-made for this program. He's definitely a winner, and he likes to win."
On Beating Arkansas:
"It's a great win. Arkansas is a great program. I take some pride in this. They've beat us the past two games and it feels good to win. There's no question about it. But I'm not one of those guys that keeps worrying about the past. I told my guys to enjoy this until midnight. After that it's time to focus on Sunday's game against Evansville. If you keep worrying about the past it may affect the future."
Arkansas Head Coach Stan Heath Post-game quotes
Opening Statement:
"I don't know where to start. We got out-worked, we got out-hustled. I think our team left Orlando and felt like we'd arrived. We certainly ran into an ambush tonight. I think our team is a lot better than the way we played tonight, but give Missouri a lot of credit. They got tempo going in their favor, we got caught up. We never were able to change things back to our favor."
On Arkansas' turnovers:
"I think we were trying to play a little faster than we should have. We want to play up-tempo, we want to play fast, but we don't want to play so fast that we lose control of what we need to be doing out there on the court."
On Mizzou's defense:
"I thought the strength of our team tonight would be the rebounding department, and they did a great job. They kept us off the glass."
"Seventeen steals is unbelievable, I've never seen that before since I've been coaching. That's a huge number."
On Mizzou's intensity:
"They were sky-high, it looked like Christmas in here. They were ready to go, and fired up."
