
Nebraska Takes 7-5 Win Over Tigers

LINCOLN, Neb. - - Nebraska evened the weekend series with Mizzou, with a 7-5 win on Saturday in Lincoln, Neb. Four errors by the Tigers helped the Huskers comeback from a four-run deficit to take the game two win setting up Sunday's deciding game.
The Tigers (32-15, 12-8 Big 12) scored the game's first run in the top of the second inning with three consecutive singles. The final hit by junior J.C. Field drove in junior Greg O'Neill.
Missouri extended the lead to four with a three-run third inning. Junior Trevor Helms, who led off the inning with a single, scored on a single by freshman Jacob Priday. Two batters later, O'Neill doubled for his second hit of the day, driving a pair of runs.
A Tiger error and consecutive walks loaded the bases for Nebraska with one out in the bottom of the fourth. NU got just one run in the inning, but took the lead with four runs in the fifth inning. The Huskers batted around in the fifth, getting four singles, a pair of walks and two MU errors.
The Cornhuskers (38-10, 13-7) added a run in each of the next two innings, making it four-straight innings in which NU scored at least one run.
Missouri got a run back in the eighth inning, as sophomore Hunter Mense doubled then scored when junior Zane Taylor reached on an error by the Huskers.
Sophomore Nathan Culp started on the mound for MU and went 4.2 innings. He allowed four runs, two of which were earned, on five hits.
MU out-hit Nebraska, picking up eleven hits as three Tigers (juniors O'Neill and Tyler Williams and sophomore Gary Arndt) had two hits on the day.
The three-game series concludes on Sunday with a 1:05 p.m. first pitch at Hawks Field in Lincoln.
The Tigers return to Taylor Stadium for a three-game series with Kansas next weekend, beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
