
Texas Tech Ends Tigers' Win Streak at 15

COLUMBIA, Mo. - - The No. 24 ranked Missouri Tigers had their 15-game win streak snapped as Texas Tech took a 5-3 win in the finale of the three-game series at Taylor Stadium on Sunday. The loss is the first in the Big 12 for Mizzou, who is now 5-1 in conference play and 23-5 overall on the season.
The Red Raiders scored first with a two-run third inning. Both runs in the inning were unearned as a passed ball and an error led to the two runs being scored.
Mizzou cut the lead in half when junior James Boone scored on a single up the middle by junior J.C. Field. The Tigers would take the lead with two runs in the bottom of the sixth with two runs, but Tech would score one run in each of the next three innings.
The go-ahead run scored in the top of the eighth and Joseph Callender singled in Cameron Blair and then Brent Thomas homer in the ninth for the Red Raiders' fifth run. Thomas was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI on the day.
Sophomore Hunter Mense was 4-for-4 with a run scored on the day for Mizzou and freshman Jacob Priday added a pair of hits.
Junior Doug Mathis started for the Tigers and allowed just two earned runs and five hits in six innings and took the no decision.
The Tigers will then travels to Cape Girardeau, Mo. to take on Southeast Missouri State at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. They return to Taylor Stadium next weekend for a three-game series starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
