COLUMBIA, Mo. - - Mizzou took the final game of its three-game series with Oklahoma by a score of 6-4 on Sunday to win the series and record its 30th victory of the season. The Tigers are now 30-10 on the year and 10-5 in the Big 12 Conference.
Trailing 1-0 after two innings, Missouri tied the game with a run in the bottom of the third when junior J.C. Field scored on a double by junior Trevor Helms. The Tigers would add a run in the fourth inning, as sophomore John McKee crossed the plate on a wild pitch.
Oklahoma (22-17, 6-9 Big 12) pulled within one run as it plated two runs in the top half of the sixth. Mizzou matched those two runs with a pair of runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth, as freshman Jacob Priday sent a two-run home run over the center field wall. The homer was his seventh of the season, which leads the team.
MU extended its lead with two runs in the seventh inning as a run scored on a bases loaded walk to junior James Boone and another run crossed the plate when Priday was hit by a pitch.
The Sooners put a run on the board in the ninth, before junior Taylor Parker came on to close out the game with a strikeout.
Junior Doug Mathis allowed three runs (just one of which was earned) on six hits in six innings pitched. He walked two and struck out five to move to 4-2 on the season. Parker recorded his third save of the season.
The Tigers have a non-conference road trip to Springfield, Mo. on Tuesday to face Southwest Missouri State at 7 p.m.
