
Mizzou Extends Win Streak to 15 with 7-2 Win

COLUMBIA, Mo. - - No. 24 Missouri moved to 5-0 in the Big 12 Conference with a 7-2 win over Texas Tech on Saturday at Taylor Stadium. The win extends the Tigers' winning streak to 15 games, the longest since they won 16 in a row in 1985.
Mizzou (23-4, 5-0 Big 12) got on the board first, getting an RBI single from sophomore Hunter Mense and a 2-RBI single from freshman Jacob Priday in the first inning.
Texas Tech (18-10, 2-5 Big 12) put one run across the plate in the top of the third, but the Tigers answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning as sophomore John McKee and junior James Boone each picked up an RBI. Boone now has 52 RBI on the season and is on pace to break the school record for RBI in a season.
MU would get runs in each of the next two innings for the final 7-2 margin.
Sophomore Nathan Culp won his fifth-straight start, as he went seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits. He struck out seven and walked one and moved to 5-0 on the season.
Mizzou is 5-0 on the Big 12 Conference since the inception of the league in 1997.
The final game of the three-game series will start at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Taylor Stadium. The Tigers will then travels to Cape Girardeau, Mo. to take on Southeast Missouri State at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. They return to Taylor Stadium next weekend for a three-game series starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
