
Mizzou Splits Doubleheader with Eastern Michigan

COLUMBIA, Mo. - - Mizzou split a doubleheader with Eastern Michigan on Saturday at Taylor Stadium, taking an 18-2 win and a 7-6 loss. Freshman Jacob Priday had two home runs on the day, one in each game, and junior James Boone had MU's first grand slam of the season in the second game of the day.
Missouri scored 18 runs in the opener, reaching double digits in runs scored for the sixth time this season. The Tigers pounded out 18 hits, including home runs from sophomore John McKee and Priday. Sophomore Gary Arndt was 3-for-5 in the game with two runs scored and junior Tyler Williams had a pair of hits and drove in three.
Sophomore Nathan Culp improved to 2-0 on the season with the win. Culp allowed two runs on four hits in six innings of work. He struck out three and walked one. Junior Travis Wendte pitched two scoreless innings and senior Meade Hedricks finished off the game by pitching the ninth.
The Tigers fell behind 4-0 after four innings in game two and did not record its first hit until the sixth inning, when Priday homered to left for his second round tripper of the day.
Mizzou pulled within one run with five runs in the bottom of the seventh innings. Four of the five runs scored on the grand slam by Boone. However, the Tigers were unable to push across the tying run.
Missouri and Eastern Michigan conclude their series at Noon on Sunday at Taylor Stadium. Sunday's game, along with all of MU's contests this season can be heard on KTGR (1580 FM) in Columbia.
