
Mizzou Sweeps Doubleheader With North Dakota State

COLUMBIA, Mo. - - Mizzou extended its win streak to eight games by sweeping a doubleheader with North Dakota State by scores of 11-1 and 21-0. Each game was called after seven innings due to the 10-run rule in place for Saturday's doubleheader.
The 21-runs scored in game two is the second time the Tigers have scored 20 run in a game this season. Missouri has scored at least 10 runs in each of the last seven games and in 14 of its 20 games this season.
The Tigers got off to quick starts in each of the two games, jumping out to big early leads. They sent 11 batters to the plate in the first inning of game one, scoring six runs on five hits. MU then had 17 batters in the first inning of the second game, scoring 12 runs.
Juniors James Boone and Derek Chambers each homered in the opener of the doubleheader. Chambers was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Sophomore Nathan Culp picked up his first complete game his career. He went all seven innings, allowing just three hits and one run, while striking out five. Culp is now 4-0 on the year, having won in each of his last four starts.
After the 12-run first inning in game two, the Tigers added three in the second inning. The first inning is the most runs scored in an inning by Missouri this season.
Boone also had a hit in the second game to extend his hitting streak to 12 games.
Erik Dessau improved to 4-1 on the season, as he allowed just one hit and struck out three in three innings pitched.
The final game of the series will get underway at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Taylor Stadium. Sunday's game, along with all of Mizzou's games can be heard on KTGR (1580 AM) in Columbia with Tex Little and Luke Cassis calling the action.
