
Tigers Shutout Youngstown State, 13-0

COLUMBIA, Mo. - - A nine-run sixth inning led to Missouri's 13-0 shutout of Youngstown State on Saturday at Taylor Stadium. It was Mizzou's second shutout of the season and it is the 10th time in 15 games this year it has scored at least 10 runs.
Sophomore Max Scherzer recorded his third win in his last three starts, turning in seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out six to move to 3-1 on the year.
Despite the 13-run margin of victory, the Tigers scored their 13 run on just six hits, getting help from the Penguin pitchers with 11 walks and five hit batters. In the sixth inning, in which MU put nine runs across the plate on just two hits, nine Tigers batters reached on walks and two were hit by a pitch.
Junior James Boone was 2-for-4 on the day to extend his hitting streak to seven games. He drove in three runs on Saturday to take his season total to 29 RBI. Junior Greg O'Neill also had two hits and scored two runs.
