Columbia, Mo. -
Linebacker Derrick Ming
On Coach Pinkel's emotion before and after today's game
"He's been pretty emotional all week for the seniors, probably more than the seniors have been themselves. The senior class did a lot this year and I think he really appreciated it, and today after the game he showed it."
On Brad Smith's 56-yard TD run on 4th and 1
"He's magical. What he's done for this program and the runs ... you just don't know what to expect. He just surprises everybody at all times."
On the Defensive Performance
"We came out determined. We've been upset with ourselves the last couple of games for not holding the offense to less points than we've scored. We came out with a lot of intensity and a lot of focus. We kind of lost it a little bit in the second half, but we regrouped and got back after it."
Defensive Lineman Scott Wheatley
On his last home game
"You always want to go out as a winner, everybody probably thinks that. Just to be able to hold on to the win like that and come out on top feels great."
On blocking Baylor's extra point
"Stryker [Sulak] gave me a great push and got me through there and I just got my hands up and it kicked me in the face. It's great to do it, especially on senior day."
On his perseverance to succeed at Mizzou
"It's just proving yourself. It feels great to be able to come out here to a Division I school and actually get out on the field, especially when you've come from a small school where you don't get very many looks. You really want to make it, and when you get playing time it feels great."
Quarterback Brad Smith
On his final home game at Mizzou
"It felt good to win. That was our whole mindset coming out here today. We're just glad to get a `W'. I appreciated everyone staying out there and cheering so long."
On his 56-yard TD run
"We were either going to let the running back do it, or I was going to do it. The line blocked great and were able to get me through there. I knew we were going to go for it, but I didn't know what to expect. I was just trying to get the one yard, that's where my mind was. The line did such a good job blocking that I just kept running."
On the team's emotions after the game
"We had some seniors crying, but when it's your last home game, you're allowed to do that."
