
Tigers Even Series With Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas. -- - Missouri picked up its first Big 12 Conference road victory of the year by taking a 5-3 win over Texas Tech on Saturday in Lubbock, Texas, snapping the Red Raiders' seven-game win streak.
For the second straight day, Missouri (28-18-1, 7-12) built an early lead, but saw Tech comeback to tie the game. In Friday's series opener, the Tigers held a 4-0 lead, but fell to the Red Raiders 7-5.
On Saturday, Mizzou had a 3-0 lead after scoring two in the third inning and one in the fifth. Texas Tech (32-14, 12-7) again made the lead disappear, tying the game at three in the sixth inning.
However, this time the Tigers scored the game's final runs. They scored a run in the eighth as sophomore James Boone, who doubled with one out, was driven in on a single by senior Jeremy Hernandez.
Senior Lee Laskowski then added an insurance run as he hit a solo home run well over the left field wall. The homer was the seventh of the season for Laskowski.
Senior Mark Alexander struck out the side in the ninth to seal the win. He struck out the last four batters of the game and five of the nine batters he faced and earned the win in relief.
MU starter, junior Garrett Broshuis allowed two earned runs (three runs total) on eight hits in 6.1 innings of work in taking the no decision.
Sophomore Trevor Helms was 2-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to seven games. He had an RBI and a run scored on Saturday night.
