LUBBOCK, Texas. -- - The Mizzou baseball team took a four-run lead into the bottom of the sixth inning against Texas Tech, but gave up seven runs in the next three innings and eventually fell by a score of 7-5 on Friday in Lubbock, Texas.
MU (27-18-1, 6-12) scored two runs in the top of the first inning by scoring a run on a wild pitch and getting an RBI-single from senior Ryan Rallo. The Tigers added runs in the fourth and sixth innings to build a 4-0 lead.
The lead quickly evaporated, as the Red Raiders scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth on three hits and with the aid of two Tiger errors. MU matched a season high with four errors on the night. TTU's Michael Mask and Josh Haney each had two-RBI hits.
Missouri took the lead back with a run in the top of the seventh, but again lost it as Texas Tech put a run across the plate in the bottom of the seventh.
The Red Raiders (32-13, 12-6) then scored what would be the game-winning runs as Cody Fuller doubled in the bottom of the eighth inning to drive in two runners.
Tiger starting pitcher Danny Hill looked to be cruising early in the game, taking a no-hitter into the fifth inning. He left the game after seven innings, allowing five runs, four of which were earned, on seven hits.
Senior Lee Laskowski was 3-for-4 for Mizzou and scored two runs. Rallo added two hits, scored a run and drove in one.
Game two between the Tigers and Red Raiders is set for 6:30 p.m. on Saturday with the final game of the series at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
