
Broshuis Remains Unbeaten as Tigers Defeat OSU

COLUMBIA, Mo.-- - Mizzou junior righthander Garrett Broshuis finished the regular season with an unbeaten 9-0 record as he took the victory in the Tigers 9-5 win over Oklahoma State on Friday at Taylor Stadium in the opener of a three-game series. Mizzou has won the opener in four of its five Big 12 Conference series this season.
Broshuis allowed three earned runs on just four hits and struck out six in eight innings. Friday was the third game this season in which Broshuis has gone at least eight innings. He finishes the regular season with a 2.72 ERA.
After a scoreless first inning, the Tigers scored run in each of the next five innings. Sophomore Trevor Helms had four hits for the second straight game, going 4-for-4 with a double and three RBI against the Cowboys. It is the third four-hit game for Helms in the last 11 games. He has a 13-game hitting streak and is now hitting .400 on the season.
Eight of the Tigers nine runs on Friday came with two outs in the inning and MU compiled 17 hits off OSU. Eight of the nine starters in the MU lineup has at least one hit and six had multiple hits in the game.
Senior Lee Laskowski, who was hit by a pitch in each of his first two trips to the plate, finished 2-for-3 with two RBI to raise his average in Big 12 games to .396. Fellow senior Jeremy Hernandez was 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored.
Game two of the series will get underway at 2 p.m. on Saturday and the final game of the series will start at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
