COLUMBIA, Mo.-- - Mizzou baseball opened its second Big 12 Conference series of the season with a 12-4 win over Baylor at Taylor Stadium on Friday. Seniors Brad Flanders, Cody Ehlers and Ryan Rallo lead Mizzou at the plate, while senior Danny Hill was in control on the mound.
It was the second straight game in which the Tigers have scored 12 runs. Last Sunday, they closed out their series with Kansas State with a 12-0 win.
Flanders and Rallo each had four RBI against Baylor. All of Flanders' RBI came on one hit, a grand slam, with two outs in the seventh inning. It was the first grand slam for MU since Kyle Johnson did it in last year's series with Baylor.
Rallo's four RBI came on two 2-run home runs, one in the second inning and another in the fifth inning. He was 2-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored.
Ehlers was 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI and three runs scored. He extended his hitting streak to 15 games and has had three straight games with at least two hits. Sophomore RF James Boone also extended a hitting streak, as he recorded a hit for the 13th straight game.
Hill recorded his third win of the season as he allowed just three runs on six hits in 7.0 innings of work. He struck out seven and walked two. Hill has gone at least seven innings in four of his last five starts.
Sophomore LHP Taylor Parker pitched the final two innings of work, allowing one run on three hits. The one run was the first Parker has allowed in his last nine appearances.
Mizzou moves to 21-6-1 on the year with the win and evens its conference mark at 2-2. Baylor drops to 10-18 overall and 2-5 in the Big 12.
