
Missouri Defeats No. 15 Nebraska With Run in the Ninth

COLUMBIA, Mo.-- - Mizzou picked up its second straight win in its final at-bat, as senior Brad Flanders' singled through the left side of the infield to drive in sophomore Tyler Williams in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Tigers the 3-2 win over Nebraska on Friday at Taylor Stadium.
The win is the sixth in the last nine games against Nebraska for MU. The Tigers have had nine games this season decided in the final at-bat, improving to 5-4 with Friday's win. They are also 8-3 in 1-run games this season.
Leading 2-1 heading to the ninth, Missouri gave up a run to the Huskers, as Curtis Ledbetter's sacrifice fly drove in Daniel Bruce who had led off the inning with a single.
Mizzou responded in the bottom of the inning, beginning with two walks. Senior Ryan Rallo then moved the runners over on a sacrifice bunt, placing runners on second and third. After an intentional walk to senior Kyle Johnson, Flanders sent the game-winning single into left field, giving the Tigers the 3-2 win.
Flanders was 1-for-2 in the game with two RBI. Rallo added two hits and scored a run.
Ehlers got Missouri on the board first with a solo home run to lead off the second inning, his second solo shot in as many games and his 12 home run of the year. In the last three games, Ehlers is 6-for-12 with four RBI and three runs scored.
The Tigers added another run in the second, as senior Ryan Rallo scored on a sacrifice fly by Flanders.
Nebraska cut the lead to one when Alex Gordon homered in the top of the fourth inning. Gordon added a double to finish 2-for-3 on the night.
Senior Danny Hill started and was strong for Mizzou, allowing just one run on five hits in 7.2 innings, his longest outing of the year. He struck out five and walked two. Hill left with the lead, taking the no decision.
Sophomore Nick Admire pitched the ninth inning and picked up his second win in as many games for MU. He took the win on Wednesday at SMS by pitching the final 1.2 innings against the Bears.
Game two of the series with Nebraska will get underway at 2 p.m. on Saturday and the final game of the weekend is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
