Missouri and Washington End in Tie

SEATTLE, Wash.-- -
The Missouri baseball team had its first tie since the opening game of the 2001 season as the Tigers and Washington ended in a 6-6 tie after 10 innings. The game was halted due to time constraints because of Missouri's travel arrangements. A curfew was imposed for the game in order for MU to catch its flight out of Seattle Sunday evening.
Mizzou put two runs across the plate in the first inning on one hit and the aid of four walks allowed by Washington starter Keaton Everitt. Sophomore CF Tyler Williams and senior LF Ryan Rallo each walked and were driven in on single through the right side by senior 1B Cody Ehlers.
The Huskies tied the score at two with a two-run home run by designated hitter Tyler Mach.
Missouri regained the lead in the top of the fourth inning as a double by senior 3B Jeremy Hernandez scored sophomore RF James Boone, who had reached on an error and scored all the way from first.
Ehlers extended the Tigers' lead to three with a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning. The homer was the fourth of the year for Ehlers, tying him with Rallo for the team lead.
Rallo extended his hitting streak to 12 games with an infield single in the top of the seventh.
The Tigers got an insurance run in the eighth with the help of three walks and a wild pitch by UW reliever Will Fenton, giving MU a three run lead. Washington made it a two-run game again with a run in the bottom of the eighth. The Huskies threatened to put more runs on the board as they loaded the bases, but freshman RHP Max Scherzer stuck out UW's Taylor Johnson to end the Husky eighth inning and preserving the 6-4 lead.
After the Husky lead off batter in the bottom of the ninth, UW got back-to-back singles and Aaron Hathaway scored on a wild pitch by Scherzer. The Huskies then tied the game at six when John Otness singled to left to drive in Greg Issacson. Scherzer was able to retire Washington and force the game into extra innings.
The Tigers went in order in the top of the tenth inning.
Mizzou starting pitcher, junior RHP Garrett Broshuis pitched six inning and has gone exactly six innings in each of his four starts this season. Broshuis allowed three runs, all earned, on just four hits, walked one and struck out seven.
Next weekend, Mizzou will be in Millington, Tenn. to take part in the Easton USA Challenge. The Tigers will face Wake Forest on Friday at noon to open up action in the tournament. They will also take on Indiana State, Memphis and Tennessee-Martin during the weekend.
