
Mizzou Closes Out Series Sweep In Dominant Fashion

COLUMBIA, Mo.-- - Missouri picked up its first three-game series sweep of the season on Sunday with a 21-1 victory over Chicago State at Taylor Stadium. The Tigers outscored the Cougars 48-4 in the four games and matched its season high with the 21 runs scored.
Missouri (18-4-1) scored runs in all but one inning and had two five-run innings and one four-run inning. Mizzou has now won seven of its last eight games and has scored in double figures in six games this season.
Junior 1B Bo Davis, in the starting lineup for the first time this season, led the Tigers at the plate with a 4-for-6 day with three RBI and three runs scored. After reaching on singles in each of his first two at-bats, Davis had RBI-triples in back-to-back at-bats. Davis entered Sunday's game with three hits on the season before his four-hit performance.
Senior LF Lee Laskowski and freshman OF Hunter Mense each had three hits on the day. Mense, who started in centerfield also played in right field for one inning and was in left field for two innings. He finished the day 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, three RBI and four runs scored.
Laskowski extended his hitting streak to 12 games on Sunday, as he went 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBI.
Junior RHP Garrett Broshuis remained perfect on the year, moving to 5-0 with the victory. He allowed just one unearned run on two hits in six innings of work. Freshman RHP Max Scherzer and sophomore LHP Taylor Parker teamed up to pitch the final three innings.
The 21-runs scored comes two days after the Tigers downed Chicago State (1-16) 19-2 in the series opener. It also matches the season-high 21 runs that MU scored in a 21-4 win over Coastal Carolina earlier in the year.
The Tigers will be on the road on Wednesday for a meeting with Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
