
Come-From-Behind Win Gives Jameison 300th Career Victory

MILLINGTON, Tenn.-- With - Mizzou's 3-2 come-from-behind victory on Saturday at the Easton/USA Challenge in Millington, Tenn., MU Head Coach Tim Jamieson recorded his 300th career win. The Tigers trailed 2-0 heading into the eighth inning, but put three runs across the plate in the eighth to take the lead and go on to claim the victory.
Memphis senior Josh Payne had sacrifice in each of his first two at-bats, giving the Tigers of Memphis the early 2-0 lead. Otherwise, MU starting pitcher, junior RHP Erik Dessau, kept Memphis in control. Memphis held the 2-0 lead threw seven innings, holding Mizzou to only two hits until the eighth inning.
Sophomore CF Tyler Williams led off the eighth with a walk and was followed by three consecutive singles by MU batters. Senior C Brad Flanders, senior 1B Cody Ehlers and senior DH Lee Laskowski each reached base with singles. Ehlers' hit drove in Williams to cut the lead to one and Laskowski's single drove in Flanders with the game-tying room. Later in the inning, MU sophomore Adam Garrett drove in Laskowski with a pinch-hit sacrifice fly
Dessau gave MU seven innings of work, tying he season-long outing. He allowed two runs, both earned, on six hits, struck out three and did not issue a walk.
Sophomore LHP Taylor Parker pitched the final two innings of the game to pick up the save, his second on the year. He did not allow a run and struck out three.
Sophomore RF James Boone continued his hot hitting this week in Millington. He was 2-for-3 on Saturday and is 8-for-11 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored in the three games of the weekend.
Jamieson, who took over as the Tigers' manager in 1995, now has a career record of 300-219-2. His first victory was a 12-2 win over Lincoln University in 1995. He recorded his 100th victory in 1998, a 3-0 win over Eastern Michigan and claimed his 200th win by defeating Kansas 8-2 in 2001. He is the third coach in Mizzou history to record 300 wins, joining John "Hi" Simmons (481 wins) and Gene McArtor (733 wins).
Missouri will face Tennessee-Martin in the final day of the Easton/USA Challenge at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The game has been moved up one hour from the original start time.
