
Missouri Defeats Penguins, Wins Series

COLUMBIA, Mo.-- - The Missouri Tiger baseball team defeated Youngstown State by a score of 8-1 to claim the series win. After dropping Friday night's contest, the Tigers rebounded to take the next two to move to 8-2 on the year.
Junior RHP Garrett Broshuis allowed just one run on eight hits in six innings of work, striking out five to pick up his third win in as many starts. In each of his three starts, Broshuis has gone exactly six innings. He has allowed just five runs, for an ERA of 2.50 and has 21 strike outs.
The Tigers scored a run in each of the first four innings with the biggest hit coming in the second off the bat of senior OF Lee Laskowski. Laskowski homered to lead off the second inning, his second home run in as many days and his second of the season.
In the third inning, junior 3B Cosme Caballero drove in sophomore 2B Trevor Helms on a sacrifice fly. Caballero drove in two more runs in the sixth on a single up the middle plating sophomore SS Zane Taylor and senior INF Jeremy Hernandez. Caballero finished the day with four RBI, after recording three on Saturday.
Hernandez and senior C Brad Flanders each had two hits one the day and Hernandez added an RBI when he singled in the sixth to drive in sophomore OF Tyler Williams.
The Tigers will continue their homestand with a two-game sereis with Western Illinois on Tuesday and Wednesday at Taylor Stadium.
