Ohio Downs Tigers in Marquette Challenge Opener

MILWAUKEE, Wisc..-- - The Missouri Tiger volleyball team dropped its second consecutive match as it lost the opener of the Marquette Challenge to Ohio, 3-1 (31-29, 30-26, 28-30, 30-25). Mizzou is now 5-2 on the year.
Missouri trailed early in each of the four games before fighting back and taking a lead in each of those games. Ohio held game point at 29-25 in the opening game, but Mizzou rallied, winning the next four points to tie the score at 29. However, Ohio won the next two points to take the 1-0 lead in the match.
MU was down again early in game two before fighting back to take the lead. But as it did in game one, Ohio went on a run toward the end of the game to take the victory and a 2-0 match lead. The Tigers had more success in game three as they held the lead for most of the way and came away with the 30-28 win, forcing a game four.
In game four, the Golden Eagles jumped out to an early advantage before the Tigers came back and took the lead. Missouri held the lead for most of the game, but Ohio was able to retake the lead late in the game to close out the match.
The Marquette Challenge continues on Saturday. Mizzou will take on Bradley at 10:30 a.m. before closing out the tournament against Marquette at 7 p.m.
