
Tiger Tennis Shucks the Huskers

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The University of Missouri tennis team won their first ever Big 12 Championship match today by beating Nebraska 4-0 at the Kansas City Country Club. The seventh-seeded Tigers will face Texas A&M tomorrow at the Plaza Tennis Center.
Stormy weather moved the Tigers scheduled match from the Plaza Tennis Center to the indoor courts at the Kansas City Country Club, but the change of venue didn't seem to faze the Tigers as they dominated the Cornhuskers 4-0. The Tigers started off the day on a positive note by winning the doubles point, taking two of the three matches. The tandem of Urska Juric and Katka Sevcikova beat the Nebraska team of Harvey and Ketamayura 8-3 and the Tiger duo of Hana Kraftova and Lucie Ruskova won their match 8-6 to clinch the point for the Tigers.
The Tigers quickly wrapped up the match by taking the first three singles matches. Sevcikova beat Rebecca Harvey 6-0, 6-1 and freshman Hana Kraftova beat Rose Ketamayura 6-2, 6-2. Senior Kristina Olshanskaya clinched the match for the Tigers with a 6-2, 6-3 victory Anna Oehme.
The Tigers won their first ever match at the Big 12 Championships and will play Texas A&M tomorrow at the Plaza Tennis Center at the scheduled start time of 2:00 pm.
