COLUMBIA, Mo. - Southwest Missouri State scored four runs in the ninth to beat No. 23 Missouri, 12-9, in non-conference action Tuesday night at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field.
A season-high crowd of 1,042 saw the Tigers take a first-inning lead when junior SS Ian Kinsler (Tucson, Ariz.) hit a 1-0 pitch over the Mizzou bullpen in left field for his second home run in a week.
Mizzou (25-11) scored three more in the second when freshman 3B Zane Taylor (Kirksville, Mo.) singled, and sophomore Bo Davis (Tulsa, Okla.) and junior 2B Jeremy Hernandez (Aptos, Calif.) followed with two-out walks to load the bases. Senior OF Jayce Tingler (Smithville, Mo.) singled to right, took third, and all three baserunners in front of him scored when Greg Mathis overran the play.
The Bears (20-14) pulled back to within a run with three in the third, yet the Tigers answered with a run in the bottom half when junior C Brad Flanders (Smithville, Mo.) hit his fifth homer of the season, a solo shot that struck the scoreboard in left.
SMS sandwiched a Tiger run in the fifth around two runs in the top half and three more in the sixth to take an 8-6 advantage. Yet Mizzou scored two in the seventh when Hernandez and Tingler both hit RBI doubles down the left-field line, then took a 9-8 lead in the eighth when junior OF Ryan Rallo (Chesterfield, Mo.) doubled Tingler home with a shot down the right-field line.

Sophomore Travis Wendte (Moore, Okla.) entered to try and pick up his eighth save, yet allowed three straight batters to reach base. Freshman Taylor Parker (Bellaire, Texas) got the final out.
