The University of Missouri tennis team beat the Wichita State Shockers 4-3 at the Green Tennis Center at Mizzou. The Tigers move to 6-1 on the year and will not play again until next Friday.
The Tigers started the day off by winning the doubles point thanks in part to 5th -ranked pair of Urska Juric and Katka Sevcikova. They won their match and as did the Tiger duo of Mary Barry and Hana Kraftova. Barry and Kraftova also won their singles matches to clinch the victory for the Tigers. Tigers Lucie Ruskova and Kristina Olshanskaya did not play either event and Juric sat out the singles for Mizzou. Missouri head coach Blake Starkey said, "We played well enough to win. We were able to rest some people and win and that's a good sign. Amanda Cervantes (of Wichita State) played incredible. Katka (Sevcikova) didn't play her best but Amanda played a strong tennis match. We are going to have a good week of practice and we're looking forward to next week."
Next week the Tiger face Louisville on Friday and then face conference foe Colorado on Saturday. Both matches will be held at the Green Tennis Center.
