The Missouri Tiger softball team won its first game of the Troy Cox Invitational on Friday by defeating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 1-0 in eight innings.
The game was scoreless through seven innings. In the top of the eighth, Joanne Loethen was placed on second base, according to tiebreaker rules. An Erin Kalka single moved Loethen to third and a base hit by Kristen Burke drove Loethen in.
Kalka got the victory for Missouri to move to 4-3 on the season.
The Tigers were to open the tournament against Colorado State on Friday morning, but rain caused that game to be delayed until 8:30 p.m. (9:30 p.m. CST) on Friday.
MU is 6-5 on the season after the win over Texas A&M-CC.
