The University of Missouri tennis team beat conference foe Nebraska 6-1 Saturday afternoon. The Tigers won the doubles point by taking two of three matches and won five out of six singles matches. The Tigers are now a perfect 2-0 in conference matches and an impressive 5-1 overall on the season.
The fifth-ranked doubles duo of Urska Juric and Katka Sevcikova defeated the Nebraska pair of Jen Baccarani and Leslie Harvey 8-4. Mary Barry and Hana Kraftova also won their doubles match. Juric, Sevcikova, Barry, Kraftova, and senior Kristina Olshanskaya all won singles matches for the Tigers. Missouri tennis head coach Blake Starkey said, "We still have some work to do but overall it was a good effort. We had some tough matches, Katka (Sevcikova) didn't play her best but she found ways to win and that's encouraging. It was a good day and we pretty much dominated."
The Tigers beat Creighton yesterday to finish 2-0 on their trip to Nebraska and are in action next against Wichita State at the Green Tennis Center at Mizzou on Friday.
