The Mizzou Tigers Tennis Team (2-0) kept rolling with a 7-0 win over the visiting Drake Bulldogs on Saturday at the Green Tennis Center. The match was competitive in spots, but the Tigers appeared to be the deeper team.
The match was also an opportunity for MU's assistant coach, Cecily Dubusker, to visit with some old friends. Dubusker graduated from Drake University last year, and holds Drake's all-time record for wins in singles and doubles. "I'm a Tiger now, so I did everything I could to make sure Missouri won this match," said Dubusker. "It was strange coaching against friends I spent so much time with, but it was awesome to see them again."
The match had a festive feel as it marked the first appearance of the Tiger Ball Kid Program, adding a professional feel to the afternoon. The fifteen ball kids were well trained, wore matching clothes, and did their jobs to perfection running down every loose ball."This was great," laughed Don Cornell, whose son, Tyler participated in the program. "Tyler was looking forward to being around the big college girls all week. Now we'll just see if he can keep his room clean and run around as quickly at home as he did today."
MU's plays again Sunday morning at 11:00AM when they take on the visiting Texas A&M Aggies. The match will be held at the Green Tennis Center, and fans are encouraged to come and participate.
