Missouri head coach Quin Snyder
On the game:
"I was pleased with how our kids fought tonight. Those are the type of games, as a coach, you work toward-where you're not shooting well, things aren't going well, and you need to do other things to win the game, things that are tough to do-offensive rebounding, free throws, not turning the ball over, which is something we emphasized so much this week. I was happy with our effort.
On the reception Ricky Clemons received:
"I wondered about it. I said before, I think everyone's entitled to their opinion. I believe Ricky; otherwise he wouldn't be playing. I was pleased. These are times where he needs support, and hopefully, as this thing plays out, that support will be warranted. I was pleased with that reception. Our fans were great tonight. For us to have that, we really appreciate our crowd.
On the play of Ricky Clemons:
He did some things that were mistakes. ... He had some open looks early and didn't make them. I thought he did an excellent job keeping his composure down the stretch and getting the ball to the right guy.
On Missouri's defense:
"We created stuff off our defense, and after a while, the ball has to go in once in a while. Our defense kept us in the game. Just taking care of the ball tonight, we didn't shoot ourselves in the foot like we did against Syracuse."
Missouri junior guard Rickey Paulding
On the play of Missouri's Travon Bryant:
"Travon's been big. He had early foul trouble, but we've been on "Tra" [Bryant] to play with a lot of emotion and energy and he did that tonight. He came up with big plays. He didn't score a lot of points, but he got rebounds and hit a big shot and was great on the defensive end. We're glad about Travon's performance."
Missouri junior forward Arthur Johnson
On Missouri's second half surge:
"I wouldn't say that fatigue didn't set in because I was tired, but it was just time we turn up the defense and try to create offensively so we could get up a little bit and have some breathing room."
Missouri junior forward Travon Bryant
On the play of the Cyclones:
"Iowa State always plays us tough. We really expected them to come out and play their best for 40 minutes, so we just went out there with the mentality that we have to execute our offense and play good defense."
Missouri freshman Jimmy McKinney
On Missouri's second half defense:
"I think that [strong defense] is our image. If we can do that for 40 minutes, we're really going to be hard to beat. We basically set the tone by the big guys in the middle, Arthur Johnson and Travon Bryant, getting boards and fighting the big guys."
Iowa State head coach Larry Bustachy
On the disappointment of State's loss:
"I'm as disappointed as I've been in a long time. I don't think we played well throughout the game. This is a team we got a chance to beat, and just didn't have the toughness to do it."
"I was real upset at halftime because we should have had a bigger lead, and we should have played a better brand of basketball. And I'm really tired of the poor me, poor me, poor schedule, poor me's."
