
Missouri Volleyball Defeats McNeese State 3-0

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Missouri Tiger volleyball team defeated McNeese State 3-0 in the opening match of the Crimson Tide Invitational in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Friday.
Leading the Tigers offensively was Shen Danru with 17 kills, followed by Mary Lauren Smith with 11. Lindsey Hunter had 38 assists and also led MU defensively with 10 digs on the night. Jenny Duitsman had five total blocks, while Lindsey Noll and Christi Myers had four.
McNeese State gave Mizzou a charge in game one before the Tigers were able to take the victory by a score of 30-28. Danru led the Tigers offensively and defensively in the initial game with six kills to go along with four digs. Hunter had 12 assists for MU.
The Tigers were in control for most of game two, leading by as much as 10 points and eventually defeating the Cowgirls 30-23 to take a 2-0 lead in the match. Danru had five kills, while Myers and Smith each had four in the second game. Hunter tallied 14 second game assists and led the Tiger defense with seven digs in game two.
Mizzou took game three 30-21 to finish off the sweep of the Cowgirls. Game three featured 13 ties before MU closed out the game on an 11-2 run for the game and match victory.
The Tigers (3-1) continue play in the Crimson Tide Tourney tomorrow starting with a matchup with West Virginia at 11 a.m. They will then face Alabama at 7:30 p.m.
