Mizzou's women's tennis team had a solid first weekend of competition as they claimed 20 of 25 matches to win the Mizzou 4-Way at the Green Tennis Center.
Highlighting the weekend were impressive wins by MU's Mary Barry, Kristina Olshanskaya, and Katka Sevcikova. A good crowd of Green Tennis Center members were on hand to watch 48th nationally ranked team of Sevcikova\Juric of Mizzou defeat the 19th nationally ranked team Suurvarik\Mikalayva of Illinois State by a score of 9-7. "It is so early in the year," said Blake Starkey. "It was great to compete, but we have a lot to do. We will make some adjustments over the next few weeks, and just keep working."
"The tennis was really exciting," said Barb Glenn of Columbia. "These girls are fun to watch, and for young kids like my daughter to see tennis like this was great! We'll be back for more." The Tigers are in action again on October 4th when they travel to Bloomington, Indiana to play in the Indiana Invitational.
