#6 Missouri 79, #11 Iowa State 59
Missouri's 20 point victory was its largest ever vs. a Cyclone team in the 21 games the two teams have played in Kansas City. It was the third-worst loss by ISU in a postseason conference tourney game played in Kansas City. MU leads the series 16-5 in Kansas City.
Missouri led 44-28 at halftime, thanks in part to a 7-of-14 effort from behind the three-point arc. Conversely, Iowa State was 1-of-5 from three-point range in the first half. The Cyclones finished the game 2-of-8 from behind the arc, which was the second-lowest total scored by a MU opponent this season. ISU made just seven three-pointers in the last four games. MU's 44 points at the half was the third-highest allowed (Kansas 46, Kansas 49) by ISU.
With his six three-point goals in the first half of tonight's game, Missouri's Clarence Gilbert tied his MU single-season three-point goal record of 102. He finished the night with 104 three-point goals. Gilbert has made 100 or more three-point goals the past two seasons.
Gilbert's 72.7 (8-of-11) three-point field goal percentage was his best of the season.
Clarence Gilbert's seventh three-pointer of the game gave him 23 points and tied him with Jon Sundvold for seventh on Missouri's all-time scoring chart (1,597). His eighth trey of the game gave him 26 points and sole possession of seventh place with 1,600 points.
MU's Arthur Johnson's 17 points is the most he's scored vs. Iowa State in five games. It's also the most he's scored in a Big 12 Tournament game. With one block vs. Iowa State, Johnson tied his own single-season blocks mark with 65, which he originally set last season.
MU's Justin Gage recorded a career-high nine rebounds.
With his three blocks vs. Missouri, Jared Homan set ISU's freshman single-season block record (40) tonight. The previous mark was 37 by Julius Michalik in 1991-92. It's the fifth-best total for a Big 12 freshman.
With his team-high 19 points, ISU's Tyray Pearson finished his career 15th on the all-time scoring chart with 580 points. Pearson led ISU in scoring in 19 of the last 26 games. His field goal with 5:18 left in the first half snapped a 1-of-9 shooting slump for the Cyclones. Pearson scored 580 points this season, which was the 15th-best single-season total in school history.
ISU's Omar Bynum has scored in double digits in five of his last eight games. Bynum made 36 of his last 51 field goals over the last eight games. He was 5-of-5 from the field for 11 points at halftime. Bynum's three-pointer was ISU's first non-Shane Power or Jake Sullivan trey since Jan. 19 when Marcus Jefferson hit a three-pointer at Kansas State. It was also the first trey made by a player other than Sullivan Since Feb. 18 at Kansas when Power hit one.
Cyclone Shane Power played his 12th complete game of the season, which tied him with Barry Stevens (1984-85) for the school record.
ISU's Jake Sullivan finished the season with the best single-season free-throw percentage (.900) in school history.
Sullivan had his 15-game three-point field goal made streak stopped. He did not attempt a field goal after getting the four stitches above his eye.
ISU finished the season with a team free-throw percentage of 74.7, which was the fourth-highest in school history.
The Cyclones' 23 turnovers were the second-worst total of the season.
