Columbia, Mo.-The University of Missouri women's soccer team drops to 6-3 with a 1-1 Big 12 Conference record after falling to Oklahoma 2-1. Oklahoma is also 6-3 with a 1-1 league record.
Despite offensively dominating the first half, the Tigers ended the period with a 1-0 deficit. Missouri started the game jittery giving up a goal in the fourth minute to sophomore Logan Womack. The OU forward dribbled through the MU defense for the score. The goal jolted Mizzou into action as they went on to outshoot the Sooners 9-to-2 in the period. The Tigers were unable to capitalize on their advances however and ended the half down by one.
The second half started much like the first, the Sooners scored early with a goal by Heather Martinelli from an assist by Womack to lead 2-0. Although Adriene Davis dished a pass to forward Melissa McLellan to post a score for Mizzou just four minutes later, the Tigers were unable to catch Oklahoma.
Goalkeeper Megan Duncan picks up the loss for Missouri. She is 4-3 on the season and 0-1 in Big 12 play. She played all 90 minutes of the game making two saves and allowing two goals.
The Tigers head into a four-game road stint this weekend as they travel to Nebraska and Iowa State. Missouri faces the Cornhuskers on Fri., Oct. 5 at 7:00 p.m., in Lincoln, before playing the Cyclones on Sun., Oct. 7 at 1:00 p.m., in Ames.
