
Oklahoma Sweeps Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The University of Missouri baseball team suffered its second sweep of the Big 12 Conference season, falling 9-6 to the Oklahoma Sooners Sunday at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field. OU won game one, 6-0, and game two, 13-9.
Missouri was swept in a three-game series at Oklahoma State to open conference play. A day after recording 17 hits, the Sooners recorded 16 hits in the contest against three Missouri pitchers. MU knocked out 11 hits, including three doubles and one triple. The Tigers stranded a season-high 16 base-runners in the game.
Oklahoma scored two runs in both the second and third innings to take a 4-0 lead. The Tigers answered with three runs in the bottom half of the third, two runs coming in on a triple by W.T. Hoover.
For the third time in as many games, OU's Greg Dobbs homered, this time a three-run shot in the fourth inning to give the Sooners a 7-3 lead. Oklahoma added another run in the fourth for an 8-3 lead.
The Sooners scored a run in the seventh inning for a 9-3 lead. OU used a pair of two-out walks and a single to produce its run.
Missouri scored a pair of runs in the eighth inning. Wes Fewell's two-out double scored Jayce Tingler and Lee Laskowski to make it 9-5. Jon Williams drove in Tingler with a two-out double in the ninth but the threat was retired with a fly ball to center.
Tingler, Fewell and Hoover each had two hits to lead Missouri.
Missouri falls to 20-14-1 and 7-11 in the Big 12. Oklahoma, which now has won four-straight games, improves to 14-22 and 8-10 in league play.
The Tigers will meet Saint Louis in a wood bat game Tuesday at T.R. Hughes Park in O'Fallon, Mo. Missouri returns to Big 12 action at Texas April 13-15.
