MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Kansas State answered a Missouri rally with a four-run inning of its own Saturday at Frank Myers Field to record a 7-3 win over the Tigers in Big 12 Conference baseball action.
After Kansas State took a 3-0 lead, Missouri tied the game in the top of the sixth inning. Luke Cassis was hit by a pitch before W.T. Hoover singled to left field. Ryan Stegall then hit a one-out homer to left field to tie the contest. Stegall's homer was his ninth of the season and 29th of his career, tying him with Tom Ciombor (1984-87) on MU's all-time career list.
The Wildcats took back the lead by scoring four runs in the sixth inning to chase MU starter Matt Hobbs. Kansas State loaded the bases with a single and back-to-back walks before Osmar Castillo hit a one-out double down the right field line to chase Hobbs. Castillo led the Wildcats with three hits.
Missouri did turn a season-high three doubles plays in the contest. MU has also turned three double plays against Arkansas State on March 27.
Missouri falls to 27-19-1 overall and 10-16 in the Big 12. Kansas State, which has now won 11 of its last 13 games, improves to 23-22 overall and 8-15 in league play.
