COLUMBIA, Mo.- The Missouri women's swimming and diving team improved to 2-0 in dual meet competition with a 126-117 victory over the Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence, Kan. on Friday night. The win was Missouri's first victory at Kansas in the program's history. It took a late comeback by the Tigers to earn the victory.
Missouri got off to a good start with a victory in the 200 medley relay. Sophomore Lizza Igoe kept the momentum on the Tigers' side with a win in the 1000 freestyle. Her time of 10:17.00 is the fifth fastest time in school history. Igoe was not the only Tiger swimmer to rearrange the all-time top five scoreboard. Junior Katy Chandler improved upon her fourth fastest time in school history in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:51.74. Unfortunately for Chandler, she was out-touched by KU's Amy Gruber, who won the event in a time of 1:51.74. Chandler would more than make up for the second place finish later on in the meet.
The Jayhawks went to win four straight races and took had a solid lead going into the seventh event of the evening, the 200 butterfly. Missouri jumped right back into the meet, thanks to freshman Becca Dawson and sophomore Rebecca Wolfe. Dawson, the Missouri high school state champion, won the 200 fly in a time of 2:03.24, the second fastest time in school history. Wolfe's second place time of 2:04.75 is the fourth fastest time in school history.
Kansas took first and second place in the 100 freestyle, but the Tigers answered with a one-two finish in the 200 backstroke. Sophomore Sarah Lo won the event in a time of 2:05.33. Freshman Amanda Morford, a Lawrence, Kan. native, finished in second place in a time of 2:06.86.

Kansas jumped back into the lead by taking first and second places in the three-meter diving event, but the Tigers were able to clinch the meet in the final individual event of the meet, the 200 breaststroke. The breaststroke, Missouri's best event, was strong again on Friday as the Tigers took first, second and third places. Freshman Mariona Costa led the charge with a time of 2:21.38. Juniors Tiffany Bohon (2:21.91) and Leslie Hoh (2:23.00) finished second and third.
