COLUMBIA, Mo. - Kareem Rush scored 23 points and hit the game-winning 3-pointer with 22 seconds to go as Missouri ended a three-game losing streak with a 66-64 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday.
Missouri (13-6, 4-2 Big 12) lost all three on the road after being ranked for the first time in two seasons. The Tigers are 9-0 at home, but had a difficult time holding off Texas Tech (8-9, 2-4), which rallied after shooting just 21 percent in the first half.
Marcus Shropshire missed the first of two free throws with 6.6 seconds left as Texas Tech, which trailed 28-16 at the half but shot 59 percent the rest of the way, missed a chance to tie it.
Clarence Gilbert added 14 points for Missouri, going just 3-for-12. Gilbert added a free throw with 4.9 seconds to go and Rush stole the ball from Cliff Owens after Gilbert missed his second free throw to sew it up.
Jamal Brown had all but two of his 18 points in the second half for Texas Tech, and added five assists and six rebounds. Andy Ellis had 11 of his 16 points in the second half.
Rush had 16 points in the second half. He drew two early fouls and played nine minutes in the first half.
Three-point shooting helped Missouri survive. The Tigers were 8-for-17 overall and 6-for-9 after the break.
Texas Tech, playing for the first time in a week, began the game 2-for-16 and had only six baskets in the first half and Ellis was the high scorer with five points. The half was reminiscent of a 17-point output in a 65-46 loss at Oklahoma State Jan. 13.
Tech shot 34.5 percent in that loss, also its previous low for scoring. Fans were chanting "Single Digits" before Andy Owens hit the second of two free throws to make it 23-10 with 4:26 left in the half.
The Red Raiders began the second half 7-for-9 and tied it at 49 on a follow shot by Owens with 8:20 to play.
Neither team led by more than two points the rest of the way as Missouri won for the first time since a 112-109 four-overtime victory over Iowa State Jan. 13.
Missouri has won four straight in the series.
