
Tigers Open Kreklow Coaching Era with Win

Columbia, Mo. - The Susan and Wayne Kreklow coaching era has officially begun, and in winning fashion none the less. The University of Missouri Tiger Volleyball team opened it's 2000 campaign with a 15 -5, 15-10, 15- 6 win over the Wichita State Shockers at the Oral Roberts Hilton Adidas Classic in Tulsa, Okla., Friday evening.
Sophomore Christi Myers paced a balance attack by the Tigers. She recorded nine kills while hitting at a .533 clip for the match. Myers was also dominant at the net posting eight blocks. Junior Kristen Johnson also pitched in with seven kills while senior Annette Luyten and junior Krista Johnson added five kills.
Senior setter Heather Gerber passed out 28 assists in the match and is now in second place on the all-time assists chart, 124 behind Cindy Atterberry.
The win moves the Tigers to 1-0 overall and 0-0 in the Big 12. The Tigers will continue their stay in Tulsa on Saturday as they take on the Arkansas Little-Rock Lady Indians at 12:30 p.m. and then battle the host school of the tournament, Oral Roberts University at 7:30 p.m. to wrap up tournament action.
