COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS -- Jon Harris pitched Missouri's first complete game of the season Saturday night and the Tigers recorded a pair of Big 12 Conference victories over the Texas A&M Aggies.
In the completion of Friday night's suspended game, Mizzou closer Ryan Stegall blew a save opportunity allowing an eighth-inning run that enabled Texas A&M to tie the game at 11-11. But Stegall held the Aggies in check the rest of the way and the Tigers scored two runs in the 10th inning to win, 13-11.
In Saturday's regularly scheduled game, Harris scattered seven hits and five walks in going the distance for the first time. He struck out six, including Jeff Freeman to end the game with two Aggie runners aboard. Harris raised his record to 6-5.
Trailing 1-0 after four innings, Missouri struck for four runs in the fifth. Ryan Pickett opened things with a single to center field off of A&M pitcher Khalid Ballouli. After W.T. Hoover popped up, Jayce Tingler walked and Ryan Stegall reached on an error by third baseman Chris Russ to load the bases. Landon Brandes struck out but Nick Wilfong walked to force in a run before Mick Weiss doubled to left centerfield to clear the bases.
Missouri (31-22, 12-14) added two more runs in the sixth inning on a RBI single by Tingler and a sacrifice fly by Stegall.
Weiss went four-for-four with three runs batted in to lead Mizzou's 11-hit attack, while Tingler and Brandes had two hits apiece.
Texas A&M is now 23-32 on the year, 11-18 in the Big 12.
The final game of the regular season will be played on Sunday at 2 p.m. Missouri Coach Tim Jamieson noted that he'll bypass Pete Sansone as the Tiger starter, saving him to pitch the first game of the Big 12 Conference Tournament on Wednesday in Oklahoma City. He was undecided as to who would be MU's Sunday starter.
NOTE: Catcher Jon Williams has returned to Columbia for surgery on his injured left thumb. Williams dislocated the thumb and tore ligaments on Friday night in a collision with Texas A&M's Daylan Holt. That leaves Ryan Pickett as Mizzou's starting catcher for the remainder of the season, with Mike Rallo as the backup.
