
Tigers Run Winning Streak To Three Games

COLUMBIA, MO -- Jon Harris struck out a season-high 10 batters and got relief help from Mitch Kiler and Ryan Stegall as the Missouri Tigers beat the Bowling Green State Falcons, 4-1, Friday at Taylor Stadium at Simmons Field.
It was Missouri's third straight victory and upped the Tigers' record to 12-8. Bowling Green saw a three-game winning streak come to an end and its record dropped to 3-6-1.
The Tigers managed only five hits, but took advantage of six walks by Falcons starter Tony Fontana. In the MU third inning, Wes Fewell and Luke Cassis each walked before Jayce Tingler blooped a single to right field to load the bases. J.R. Warner plated one run with a groundout to shortstop and Ryan Stegall drove in another run with a sacrifice fly.
Mizzou added another run in the fourth when Nick Wilfong doubled to leadoff the inning, was bunted to third by Mike Rallo, and scored on a groundout by Mick Weiss.
Bowling Green scored its only run in the seventh inning on a two-out RBI single by Alan Gilhousen.
MU regained its three-run lead in the bottom of the seventh. Cassis and Tingler walked to open the inning before Stegall singled to center field to drive in Cassis. The hit stretched Stegall's hitting streak to eight games. Catcher Jon Williams also singled in the game to extend his hitting streak to eight games.
Harris earned the victory (2-1), pitching seven innings. After Kiler pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning, Stegall pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his fifth save. Fontana (1-2) took the loss.
The series continues with single games Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m.
