Tigers Start 5-Game Homestand With Win

COLUMBIA, MO, March ___ The Missouri Tigers scored three runs with two outs in the fifth inning Tuesday night and came from behind to beat the Arkansas State Indians, 6-2, at Taylor Stadium at Simmons Field.
With MU trailing 2-1 and runners on second and third with two outs in the fifth, Ryan Stegall doubled to right center field to drive in two runs and Jon Williams followed with a double to left to score another. For Stegall, Mizzou's leading hitter with a .403 average, it was his 11th double of the season - equaling his total of last season.
Williams singled in another run in the seventh inning and Mick Weiss hit his first home run of the season in the eighth to close out the scoring for the Tigers.
Arkansas State (11-7) managed eight hits off of Missouri starter Logan Dale, who pitched six innings. But they were only able to score in the fourth inning on four hits and a wild pitch. Dale's record improved to 2-3. Mitch Kiler and Stegall combined to pitch three innings of scoreless relief.
Arkansas State starter Gary Wilson pitched six-and-two-thirds innings, allowing nine hits and five runs, and suffered his first loss (2-1).
J.R. Warner and Williams each went 3-for-4 for Missouri, while Brandon Maricle was 3-for-4 with two doubles for the Indians.
Missouri improved to 10-8. The two teams meet again at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
