Dallas, Texas - The University of Missouri women's golf team finished in second place at the Midwest Classic golf tournament, which wrapped up today at the Hyatt Bear Creek golf course in Dallas, Texas. Missouri, which finished with a three-round team total of 942, was just six strokes back of champion TCU, which won with a 936 total.
Junior Amelia Moses turned in an outstanding performance for Head Coach Tom Loyd, as the Coronationville, South Africa native placed 3rd individually, with a three-round total of 228. She was just two strokes back of TCU's Angela Stanford, who claimed medalist honors with a 226 total. Moses was in position to win her third collegiate title in three years, as she found herself tied for the lead through two rounds, but a final-round 81 knocked her just off the pace.
Senior Tobi Probst continued her excellent play, as she turned in her second-straight top-10 performance of the spring. Probst tied for 9th overall with a three-round total of 238. Probst led all MU golfers last week at Tucson, Ariz., with a 6th-place showing.
Two more Tigers posted top-20 individual finishes in the 16-team tournament, including freshman Elin Ohlsson, who tied for 11th, and sophomore Nisha Sadekar, who tied for 19th overall. Junior Jill Rosen rounded out the MU competitors, as she tied for 52nd individually.
Next up for Loyd's Tigers is the GTE MO-Morial, to be held March 6-7 in College Station, Texas. Missouri is the defending champion there, winning the team title in 1999.
