MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kareem Rush scored 19 points and Missouri hit 6 of its first 7 3-pointers to beat Kansas State 84-74 Saturday as the reeling Wildcats tied their school record with 11 straight losses.
Kansas State (8-15, 1-11 Big 12), which last lost 11 in a row in the 1945-46 season, announced before the game that point guard Galen Morrison had been suspended for the rest of the year "for disciplinary reasons." Morrison was averaging 11.5 points and had a team-high 60 assists.
Kansas State coach Tom Asbury, who has come under increasing fire as the team collapsed and home attendance waned, screamed at the officials for a non-call early in the second half and drew a technical foul.
Brian Grawer made both free throws for a 53-49 lead and the Wildcats never got closer than 6 as Missouri (16-8, 9-3) recorded its fifth straight road win and a two-game series sweep of Kansas State.
Kenyatta Dix, averaging 3.3 points, led Kansas State with 22. Tony Kitt had 18, including a tip-in with 22 seconds remaining to get the Wildcats to 79-71.
The Tigers who last week set the team record for 3-pointers in a season with 217, wound up 14-for-33 from long range.
Keyon Dooling had 17 points for Missouri and Clarence Gilbert had 15.
Morrison, who transferred this year from Iowa Western Junior College, had publicly complained last month that he was unfairly being held responsible for the team's troubles. He later apologized for the remarks.
