NATCHITOCHES, LA -- The Missouri Tigers came from behind with three runs in the sixth inning Thursday at Brown-Stroud Field on the campus of Northwestern State University then let its bullpen take over as they beat the Nicholls State Colonels, 3-2. The victory evened Mizzou's record at 2-2. Nicholls State fell to 2-4.
Down 1-0, outfielder J.R. Warner started the MU sixth with a single to left field. After Ryan Stegall and Jon Williams walked to load the bases, Mike Rallo singled home a run and Wes Fewell and Landon Brandes followed with back-to-back sacrifice flies.
Mitch Kiler pitched a perfect eighth inning and Stegall closed the deal in the ninth to earn his first career save. Junior Jon Harris made his first career start for the Tigers and earned the victory (1-0). He tossed a four-hitter for seven innings and struckout eight while walking just two.
The Tigers open play this afternoon in the Frank Moran Trucking Demon Baseball Classic against the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans (5-2). Tiger ace Logan Dale (0-1) will get the start for Coach Tim Jamieson.
