COLUMBIA, Mo.- The Missouri Tigers (16-7, 6-6) had a four-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday night at the hands of the Texas A&M Aggies (11-11, 3-9). Missouri shot just 37 percent from the floor in a 66-55 loss to Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.
Missouri trailed 34-32 at halftime, and were outscored 32-23 in the second half. The Tigers led just one time in the second half, 35-34 at the 18:52 mark, despite tying the game twice. The Tigers were within one point of the Aggies six times in the second half, but could never get over the hump.
A three-point field by Tracy Franklin tied the game 49-49 at the 4:35 mark. Following a Texas A&M timeout, the Aggies countered Franklin's three-pointer with a trey of their own by LaToya Rose to give the Aggies a three-point advantage, 52-49.
After the Aggies converted on a Missouri turnover to take a five-point lead, Amanda Lassiter hit a jumper in the lane for the Tigers to cut the Texas A&M lead to three points and 54-51. That is as close as Mizzou would get.
Texas A&M scored the next six points to open up a nine-point lead, 60-51 and converted six-of-nine free throws in the final minute-and-a-half to put Missouri away.
The Tigers were led by Julie Helm (16 points), who moved into third place on Missouri's all-time scoring list passing Sharon Farrah. Helm now has 1,830 points for her career. Marlena Williams added 11 points and six steals off the bench for the Tigers while Lassiter tallied 10 points and five assists.
Jaynetta Saunders paced Texas A&M with 20 points and nine rebounds while Prissy Sharpe added 12 points and five blocked shots.
