
Poor Shooting Leads to MU Loss in Texas

COLUMBIA, Mo.- The Missouri Tigers fell to 11-3 and 1-2 in the Big 12 Conference after losing 80-64 to the Texas Longhorns (11-5, 3-1) on Saturday afternoon. Missouri shot just 32.5 percent from the field while committing 25 turnovers. The contest in Austin, Texas was the first Big 12 road game for the Tigers.
The Tigers shot just 26.3 percent from the floor in the first half and trailed 35-23 at halftime. Mizzou's five starters combined for 15-of-61 for the game. Amanda Lassiter led the Tigers with 16 points (all in the second half). Marlena Williams added a double-double, 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Tracy Franklin came off the bench to score a career-high 15 points.
Missouri could not solve the Longhorns' pressure defense that caused 25 turnovers. Texas All-American Edwina Brown tallied 18 points, 8 rebounds, 10 assists and 7 steals to lead the Longhorns. Freshman Alisha Sare hurt the Tigers with 18 points including three 3-point field goals.
