COLUMBIA, Mo.- Amanda Lassiter scored 13 points and Tracy Franklin came off the bench to match a career-high 13 points to help lead Missouri to a 66-61 win over Southern Illinois at Carbondale, Ill. on Tuesday night. The win is Missouri's fifth straight victory as the Tigers will take on Saint Louis University at the Bauman-Eberhardt Athletic Center on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
Missouri jumped out to a 10-0 lead and held Southern Illinois scoreless for the first 4 minutes, 18 seconds of the game. Amy Monsees (11 points) scored eight of the Tigers first 10 points in the first 4 minutes, 9 seconds of the contest.
The Salukis answered Missouri's 10-0 lead with a 13-2 run of their own taking a 13-12 lead. It would be an up-and-down affair from there. The Tigers led 28-25 at halftime.
Both teams fought through sloppy play in the second half. Tracy Franklin sparked the Tigers off the bench in the second half with 9 points and several key defensive stops. With Missouri leading 57-55, freshman Kerensa Barr drained a big three-pointer for the Tigers with 2:30 to go in the game.
Missouri hit 10-of-12 free throws in the final four minutes of the game to help preserve the win.
