
Tigers Rout Centenary

COLUMBIA, Mo.- The Missouri Tigers (4-1) forced 42 turnovers and used a 34-0 run to defeat Centenary College (0-6) by a score of 111-31 on Friday night at the Hearnes Center in the first round of the Unilever Missouri Lady Tiger Classic. Missouri will face Western Kentucky in the championship game on Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. Western Kentucky came back to knock off Evansville by a score of 49-46.
Six Missouri players scored in double figures and every Tiger saw at least 11 minutes of playing time in the 80-point route. Missouri recorded a Big 12 single-game record 28 steals, eclipsing the previous mark of 27 set last Saturday by the Tigers against San Diego State. Amanda Lassiter led Missouri with 16 points. Ekpe Akpaffiong collected 12 points and a team-high 8 rebounds off of the bench.
Missouri trailed 6-4 with 17:42 to go in the first half before hitting Centenary with a 34-0 run covering 9 minutes, 32 seconds. Centenary was held to just 22 percent from the field while the Tigers shot 54.5 percent.
Juniors Tracy Franklin 13 points, and Denise Cardenas 11 points, both recorded career-highs. Freshman Kerensa Barr added 8 points while collecting 6 assists and 7 steals.
